Abstract

Chilling (metering) pumps handling abrasive-filled resins increases the viscosity of the surface film of resin in contact with the pump components and seals. Found to reduce abrasive wear on pump and rate of bleeding from pressurised fluid seals used for pumping resins under vacuum. Esp. relevant to silica filled resins used for electrical components. Temp. control of coolant and seal fluids described.
