Abstract

The flameproofing liquid is applied to the cigarette paper as a network pattern by three separate applicator rollers. One roller has a helical groove running in one sense, another roller has a helical groove running in the opposite sense, and the third roller has a series of circumferential grooves. Each applicator roller has an associated presser roller and scraper, and pref. the paper is dried between each impregnating stage. The helically grooved rollers operate pref. on the opposite side of the paper to the circumferentially grooved roller.
