Abstract
The autoluminescent compsn comprises an optically neutral matrix a photoactivator and at least one radio element. Spec the matrix is an oxide, oxysulphide or vanadate of scandium or a rare earth element (pref. La, Y, Lu) opt with non-trivalent elements (pref. Ca, Sr, Zr, Th); the photoactivators is a trivalent rare earth (excluding La and Lu) in amts of 0.01-1.0% mol the radio element is pref. Pm 147, in a concn of >=25 Curie/g luminescent compsn. The compsn provides a source of constant, stable electrovoltaic energy directly converted from radioactive energy, esp suitable for use with cardiac regulators for long service.
