Abstract
A series of superimposed rotors is fitted in a cylindrical vessel through which a carrier gas passes upwards, and entrains sufficiently disintegrated material, while material either partly disintegrated or not disintegrated falls downwards and is recovered at the lower end. The linear velocity of the carrier gas is constant in the feed zone the cylindrical section and the part connecting these two sections and perforated partition walls having opt. circular perforations distributed over them, are arranged perpendicularly to the axis of the cylindrical section below at least some of the rotors the perforations in two successive walls being staggered, and their actual or equivalent diameter lying between 2 and 5 times the axial spacing between the upper face of the wall and the blade of the rotor immediately above.
