Abstract

Process for preparing granulated mixtures of CaCO and NH4 NO3 by treating solid, molten or dissolved Ca3 (NO3)2 with ammonia and CO2. An excess of NH3 and CO2 of about 0.1 to 4.0% w/w of the reaction mixture is maintained to which NH4NO3 and/or CaCO3 is optionally added to give the required N-content, adjusting the water content to at least 4% and preferably 8-20% w/w. The suspension is atomised in a current of hot gas to deposit the solid on solid nuclei, especially fertilizers.
