Abstract

Tricot is knitted on a Raschel or hook frame from a glass yarn which has received no later assembly or throwing. The yarn does not undergo transverse flexion, because it is guided in a straight line before formation of stitches. Preferably the usual guides are replaced by metal rods, to whose lower ends are welded small segments of flattened tubes, whose max. dimension is perp. to the displacement plane of the needles and through which tubes the yarn passes. The glass yarn can also be used as a weft, the stitches being of nylon or Tergal (RTM) yarn which holds the weft.
