Abstract

Manufacture of glass objects By chilling a shaped and flame polished object rapidly to ordinary temp., then soaking or refiring. If the glass has high coefficient of expansion the object is heated at 550-650 degrees C for 3-6 mins., at 680-720 degrees for approx. 5 mins., and is then chilled rapidly to 50 degrees C is approx. 2 mins. If the glass has low coefficient of expansion, it is heated to 560 degrees for 7 mins., maintained thereat for 1-3 mins., cooled over 10 mins. to 490 degrees C, and then cooled to ordinary temperature over 20 mins. The object may be decorated before the reheating steps.
