Abstract

1377804 Silica glass element QUARTZ & SILICE 9 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 5962/72 Heading Cl A silicon glass element has on at least two mutually opposed surfaces thereof a coating of cristobalite. The element is produced by depositing on the surfaces at least one nucleating agent and subjecting the thus treated surface to a heat treatment. The nucleating agent may be Al, Mg, Ca, Cs or mixtures thereof. A protective coating of fused silica may be provided upon the cristobalite surfaces.
