Abstract

Water-(in)soluble enzymatically active products of polymer-asparaginase (PPAS) in which asparaginase is linked covalently to the polymer by means of an asparaginase group which is not essential to its enzymatic activity and the polymer is capable of forming covalent bonds through carboxyl or carboxylic anhydride groups are prepared by reacting asparaginase and the polymer under conditions which do not cause destruction of enzymatic activity. Pref. a water-soluble PPAS is prepared under conditions in which cross-linking is prevented. Pref. use is separation of asparagine from tissues and body fluids, such as blood and blood plasma.
