Abstract
Tubes are shaped in an electro-hydraulic discharging device in a moulding matrix having an elastomeric chamber filled with non-conductive fluid for transfering pressure waves created by discharges between electrodes, in the chamber using ionised, conductive liquid path of limited diameter between electrodes. Specif. the chamber has an inlet and outlet for non-conductive fluid, and its construction comprises (i) first electrode with channel for letting through liquid (ii) a second electrode separate from the first one (iii) an elastomeric wall at some distance from the electrodes forming a chamber filled with liquid (iv) a connection for feeding in electrolyte under pressure in the direction of the second electrode for forming a preferred conductive path between the electrodes, means for producing a shielding liquid flow between non-conductive and conductive liquids to prevent mixing, and for supplying non-conductive liquid to chamber, for removing excessive liquid from chamber and switch for connecting supply such as condenser battery to the electrodes. Disadvantages of using conductive wire (frequent replacement of wires, inaccuracy) are eliminated by applying plasma rather than avalanche discharge type. Method is particularly suitable for welding cans of containers.
