Abstract

Improved sequencing timer control for regenerating cycle of water treatment plant. F6B. Employs a mechanical drive from the metal output shaft to a rotary disc operating a contact to set in motion an electric motor driving programmed sequencing discs. These are set to time the stages of the regenerating cycle and finally switch back to normal water treatment process. A sequencing timer which is brought into action by a signal from a water meter that a predetermined quantity of water has passed through a water treatment plant which now awaits regeneration. This is an addition to Patent No. 1436994 which described a system in which supply water for treatment passed through a normally-open main valve to a water meter and then on to the treatment vessel. When the quantity of water passed through the meter indicated that regeneration of the softening resin was due, the main valve was automatically closed and a normally-closed by-pass valve opened so that supply water continued to reach the treatment vessel without going through the meter. When the regenerating cycle was completed, the main and by pass valves were returned automatically to their normal positions for the treatment process. The improved modification is simpler and cheaper than in 1536994.
