Abstract

Layered panels for roof spans.. Fl-. Must be a curved panel of three layers, the outer metal layers being undulated in section and the centre layer of a hard foamed plastic. Within the centre layer are fixed braces. At the widest parts of cross section these are attached to the metal skin. These braces may be small brackets or transverse partitions and allow the skin to act as a mould for the foaming of the plastic. The metal skins of the panel have overlapping interlocking edges and the rigid structure provided by these panels is suitable for spars greater than ten metres, which could not be achieved using layered panels without the cross braces.
