Abstract

946,141. Girdles. Wm. GLUCKIN & CO. Inc. March 24, 1961 [April 4, 1960], No. 10883/61. Heading A3V. In a girdle consisting of front and rear panels 13, 14 connected by side panels 10, each side panel comprises relatively movable inner and outer layers 11, 12 of all-way stretch material. The rear edge of the outer layer 12 extends through the full depth of the girdle whereas its front edge extends from the upper edge 15 to a point spaced from the lower edge 16 of the front panel. The front edge of the inner layer 11 extends from the lower edge of the front panel, but the other three corners 26-28 of the layer are spaced from the upper and lower edges of the girdle. The front panel 13 is reinforced by crossed strips 18, 19 terminating adjacent the corners 28, 20 of the inner and outer layers of the side panels. The front panel and reinforcing strips are inextensible and the rear panel is stretchable only in the vertical direction.
