This invention relatesto corsets andit is the obgect of the invention to provide a freelyl flexible corset comprisinfr portions' soY The invention consists further in the provision for attaching garment supporters to the corset.
In the drawings Figure l is an exterior view of the improved corset, opened out;
Figure 2 is an interior view Aofthe same;
Figure 3 is a front view of the garment in use;
Figure 4 is a side view of the same.
In these views, the reference character A designates a central strip, preferably elas tic, which extends the full height of the garment at the rear thereof. To each lateral margin of said strip t-here are secured an upper hip section B and a lower back sec tion C, said sections overlapping and being l secured to the margins of the elastic strip and further being secured t0 each other in an overlapping relation. Clasp sections D, carried by the free ends of the hip sections B, marginally carry the coacting clasps or fasteners E. Flexible reinforcements F, of steel or other suitable: material are extended substantially the full length of the strip A between its margins overlapping edge portions of the sections B and C, and the rows of stitching G which hol-d said reinforcements in place also attach the sections B and C to the strip A. In use, the sections B embrace the hips of the wearer, inclining downwardly toward each vother at the front of the body, asbest seen in Figure 3. At the angles formed by the lower and front edges of said sections, hose supporters H are attached. The sections D, when the garment is in use meet at the front of the body, their upper edges extending substantially along the waist line. To give a certain fullness to the rear and side portions yof the sections B plaits J are laterally extended upon'said portions fromthe rear ends of said sections7 said plaits being secured at the inner margins of the sections B by the stitching G but being free for the major portion of their extent. Said plaits adapt the sections B to snugly conform to the hip curvature. The rear sections C have a lesser lateral extent than' the. upper sections B, covering only the rear portions ofthe body. Hosesu'pporters K are attached lto the sectionsv G `viding depending angular' attachment portions for the hose supporters that will utilize. the downward stress exerted through said supporters to eliminate slack and present a smooth unwrinkled surface to the outer garments. The'plaited construction of the sections B secures t-he necessary fullness at the hips. The freely depending hems L Y add to the appearance of the garment as well as reinforcing the same. The garment derives av certain -circumferential expansivbilitythroughout its entire height by the employment of elasticv material to form the central rear'strip A.
The several sections forming each of the similar halves of the garment are so shaped as to very snugly adaptthemselves to the configuration ofthe lower portion of thev body. l y
What I claim as my invention is zl. Ay corset comprisingV a back piece, and a pair of sections secured to opposite lateral margins `of said back piece, and adapted to extend circumferentially to the hips of the wearer, and to extend downward toward each other at the front of the garment, the front edges of said sections forming substantially right angles with the top edges thereof, fastener sections secured to the front portions yof each of said hip engaging sections7 and projecting substantially in the direction of the bisector of said angle, and clasp members secured to each of said fastener sections.
2. A corset comprising a central strip at the back of the garment, and upper and lower sections secured to each lateral margin of said strip, members attached to said upper sections adjacent the upper outer cor-- nersy thereof extending upwardly and outwardly, and having fastening means along their outer edges, said members being adapted to meet at the front of the body of the wearer, with their upper edges substantially parallel to the waistline thereof, said upper sections being` adapted to extend around the hips and downwardly from the waistline in the front, said lower sections being adapted to extend downwardly around the hips and terminate adjacent the sides of the body of the wearer.
8. A corset comprising a central strip and a pair of sections secured to opposite lateral margins of said strip and adapted to extend Vcircumferentially of the hips 0f the wearer,
and to extend downward toward each other at the front of the garment, the top edge of one of said sections and the front edge of the opposite section forming a substantially straight line, and hose supporters attached to said sections at the point of intersection of their front and lower edges.
4. AL corset comprising a central strip at the back, and a pair. of sections secured to opposite lateral margins of said back piece7 members attached to said sections adjacent the upper outer corners thereof and extending upwardly and outwardly therefrom, and having their upper edges substantially parallel to the waist-line of the body of the wearer, said sections adapted to extend circumferentially of the hips of the wearer and to extend downward toward each other at the front of the garment, the intersection of the upper and frontedges of said sections being secured to said members adjacent the. lower edges thereof.
In testimony whereof l affix my signature.
