A perforated drum turns within a housing with end walls; liquor is separated in one zone between drum and housing and, in another, the fibre mat is washed by liquid under pressure, this zone being delimited by part of the drum wall and a separating partition between it and the housing and converging exponentially towrds, and in the direction of rotation, of, the drum, with exponent >=2.
