Abstract

A tumbler drier comprises a pair of electrodes 56, 57 mounted stationary on the drier in mutually spaced relation to sense the wetness of the material being dried within the drum. The electrodes are secured to a stationary bulkhead forming an end wall of the drum and are each formed of elongated fingers extending interdigitally between and in spaced relation with the fingers of the other electrode, each set of fingers connected to a conductive transverse body 56b, 57b. The drum may be formed of perforated or imperforate material, and drying air passes into and out of the drum through openings 38, 41 respectively in the bulkhead.
