Abstract
Apparatus is intended to indicate the degree of offset of a slab, or other metallurgical product, with respect to the normal direction of its displacement at the moment of leaving the reducing rolls of a roll stand. It acts in combination with means which engage with the slab and are mounted on a fixed structure which is resistant to the lateral forces due to the offset; they are subjected to a lateral thrust which is proportional to the degree of offset. Indicating means in the form of stress detectors are capable of showing the lateral thrust. The apparatus assures a continuous indication of the lateral forces applied to the chassis of a saw carriage by reason of any offsetting of the slab at the moment the latter leaves the rolls.
