Abstract

1463958 Weighing railway vehicles TOKYO SHIBAURA DENKI KK 30 April 1975 17999/75 Heading G1W Apparatus for weighing a railway vehicle comprises a pair of load cells 19a, 19b mounted on a frame 15a, 15b which rests on the rail flanges, the load cells being arranged such that the flanges of a pair of wheels ride on the load cells. Guide pieces 26 guide the wheels on to the load cells. Each load cell comprises a steel block fitted with strain gauges, the outputs of which are added, and a visible or audible signal is given if a pre-set weight is exceeded. The guide pieces 26 and the load cells may be integral with frame pieces 15a, 15b, and wedges may be provided to prevent motion of a vehicle on the load cells. Two pairs of load cells may be provided for weighing two pairs of wheels.
