Abstract
Bonding composition for bonding ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymers (EPD), particularly to nylon and rayon fibres, is a copolymer of dicyclopentadiene and one or more C2-12 alpha-olefins; the copolymer may be used in combination with a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin. Tyres with an EPD carcass, reinforced with nylon or rayon cord. Dicyclopentadiene-alpha-olefin copolymer is prepared by polymerising 1 mole of dicyclopentadiene with 5-20 moles of olefin in the presence of a catalyst consisting of VC14 or VOCl3 and R3Al or R2AlX, where R is C1-12 alkyl and X is Cl or Br.
