Abstract
During the course of the processing, the position of the tool which is connected to one pole of the current source is varied to maintain an electrode intermediary space between tool and workpiece. An unstable working mixture of an electrolyte (e.g. 10% saline solution + nitrogen or air for processing steel) and gas is fed through the intermediary space where it forms media having different electrical conductivities. The media provide at least two different speeds of anodic dissolution. The tool may for example have a semicircular projection.
