Abstract
Thin backing sheet to granular abrasive attached by adhesive, is a non-woven web of criss-cross fibres made in known manner but including at least 50% of non-vegetable artificial or synthetic fibres. Specifically these may be polymeric, polyvinylic, polyamidic, polyacrylic, polypropylenic or the like. The backing is pref. is not >2mm thick with a weight of about 20 g/m2, may be crinkled, honeycombed or smooth, and may be impregnated with a flexible binder, e.g. a butadiene, styrene latex, which may be painted on.
