Improvement of the weft-passing needles of looms without shuttle.
The present invention relates to shuttleless looms in which the weft is passed through the shed by means of two needles moving in reverse rectilinear movements so that, going first of all to meet one of the. another, that which carries the weft yarn the transfer to the other which completes the laying thereof during its return movement that is to say during the badly recoil of said needles to free themselves from the crowd.
As advantageous as this passetrame system is, it can only be suitable in practice for small or relatively small weaving widths.
In fact, for wide-width weaving, the control device for each of the needles would occupy an excessively large location on both sides of the loom, corresponding to substantially twice the upper width.
The object of the present invention is to overcome this drawback.
It consists, for this purpose, of a system of weft-passing needles which, being telescopic, allows with a control device of reduced size, to obtain a significant clearance, thanks to the fact that the assembly located on each side of the loom consists of a primary needle which drives, by means of a flexible tape closed on itself and attached to a fixed point of the loom, a secondary needle secured to said tape.
It is the aforementioned second needle which carries the head and projects outside the primary needle which serves as its carrier organ.
The invention will in any case be well understood by referring to the attached schematic drawing: given only by way of indication and in which: FIG. 1 is an overall view from the front elevation, the weft pass system located on the .the left side being shown developed, while that on the right is at rest, which has been done for ease of reading of the drawing, but obviously cannot occur in operation; Figure 2 is on a larger scale, a side elevational view of one of the weft passers; Figures 3 and 4 show in longitudinal section one of the telescopic weft passers in position respectively at rest and developed; Figure 5 is, on a much larger scale, a cross section along 5-5 of Figure 3.
In this drawing, 1 designates the comb holder flap with its legs 2 pivoting at 3 and actuated by the grooved cams 4 driven by the shaft 5.
This shaft 5 drives, on each side of the loom, by means of a conical pair 6, a crank plate 7 on the crank pin 8 of which is coupled a connecting rod 9. At its other end this connecting rod is coupled to an elbow lever 10 oscillating around a fixed point 11. This lever is connected to a link 12 driving a slide 13 on slides 14.
On this slider 13 is rigidly fixed a U-shaped section 15 constituting the primary needle.
On this primary needle are mounted pins 16 carrying rollers 17.
A flexible tape 18, the two ends of which are connected at a fixed point 19 of the loom, envelops, on a half-turn, each of the end rollers 17.
A second section 21 is attached to this flexible tape at 20, constituting the secondary needle. This secondary needle 21 is housed inside the primary one 15 and carries, at its end the head 22 ensuring the exchange or transfer of the weft thread from one needle to another when their heads meet in the middle of the needle. 'combing.
The operation of each of these telescopic needles is as follows:
The primary needle 15 being driven in translation also drives the rollers 17 in the same movement ;.
Due to the fact that the lower strand of the ribbon. flexible 18 is fixed and this tape wraps on a half turn each of the end rollers 17, the upper strand performs a double displacement of that of said rollers, therefore of the primary needle 15.
As goes without saying and as it emerges moreover already from what precedes, the invention is obviously not limited to the only embodiment indicated above, very schematically moreover; on the contrary, it embraces all variant embodiments.
