The present invention relates to improvements made to removable walls or partitions, of the type in particular of those used in the fitting out of industrial or commercial premises with a view to determining within a single large-area room a series of offices. or separate individual stations.
The object of the invention is more especially to allow the production of a partition or dividing wall of the aforementioned type of simple and robust construction, and which is also likely to respond particularly well to the various desiderata of practice.
The dividing wall or partition according to the invention of the kind constituted by a series of opaque or translucent panels assembled to each other by regularly spaced vertical posts, is mainly remarkable in that the panels are held in place by means of glazing beads or angles one wing of which bears against the edge of each of said panels while the opposite wing is made integral, by simple elastic snap-fastening, .de uprights and cross members formed by profiled elements suitably fixed to the posts.
It is understood that the realization of such a partition can be carried out in a simple and practical manner in the same room intended to receive it. Once the posts, fitted with the profiled elements forming the uprights, have been put in place, it suffices to fix the ends of the crossbeams against said posts and to assemble the panels by means of the glazing beads with elastic snap-fastening. In accordance with a remarkable arrangement. according to the present invention, between the successive posts, the upper and lower horizontal edges of the dividing wall are provided with suitable plinths to be applied elastically against the ceiling
carries for this purpose a movable horizontal element, urged vertically by U-profile springs bearing against the end cross member of the panel; the aforementioned mobile element is advantageously covered with a rubber profile or synthetic material intended to form a seal against the considered horizontal wall of the room.
The intermediate posts are made up of metal sections with a square section, fitted at their ends with spring jacks adjustable by screws, suitable for securing them by wedging between the ceiling and the floor of the room. The movable rod of these jacks is preferably sheathed with a layer of rubber or other elastic material so as to avoid the noise resulting from the vibrations of the connecting spring of said jacks.
Other remarkable characteristics of the dividing wall or partition according to the invention will result from the description which follows with reference to the appended drawing, which drawing, given by way of example, will make it possible to better understand the invention, the characteristics that it has and the advantages that it is capable of providing: FIG. 1 is a schematic elevational view of a dividing wall according to the invention; Figure 2 is a vertical section along II-II (fig. 1); Figure 3 shows on a larger scale the part of Figure 2 indicated by arrow III; Figure 4 is a vertical section of the upper part of one of the intermediate posts, along IV-IV (fig. 1); Figure 5 is a cross section along VV (fig. 1).
The removable dividing wall shown in Figure 1 comprises three vertical posts 1, regularly spaced from each other, between which are fixed two translucent upper panels 2 and .two opaque lower panels 3.
The central post is connected to the two side posts by horizontal cross members formed by the assembly of two metal profiles 4 (fig. 2 and 3). As detailed in Figure 3, each of these sections has a central portion (to which the general reference 4 has been assigned) oriented horizontally; in the vicinity of each of its ends this central portion is folded four times at 90 [deg] so as to successively determine a first vertical branch 4a, a horizontal branch 4b, a second vertical branch 4c of lower height than the first branch -la and oriented in the opposite direction, and finally a terminal branch or fin 4d, oriented horizontally in a plane parallel to those determined by the central portion 4 and by the horizontal branch 4b. The two sections 4 thus arranged are assembled to each other in an inverted position by welding their central portions 4. The horizontal cross member which they constitute is fixed by its ends to the two poles 1 considered, this fixing being ensured by means of brackets, one wing of which is bent against said cross member while the opposite wing is made integral with the side wall of the post by means of screws or the like.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the central post is connected to the two side posts by three cross members; one of these is arranged substantially in the middle of the height of the partition, while the other two are provided in the vicinity of the horizontal edges of the latter. which are intended to come into contact with the ceiling 5 and the floor 6 of the room in question.
Between the central cross member and the upper cross member are mounted two glass walls 2 '' intended to each form translucent panels 2. As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the horizontal edges of each glass wall 2 'bear against the end fin. 4d of one of the profiles 4 which constitute each cross member; these edges also abut, with the interposition of a felt strip 7, against the vertical branch 4c of said section. The 'fixing of each wall 2' is ensured by means of an angle iron or glazing bead 8 on the horizontal flange of which is welded a metal strip 9, folded at 180 [deg] so as to form a clip, the fold of said strip 9 being turned towards the free end of the wing in question. It is understood that it is thus possible to introduce between the terminal fins 4d facing one and the same cross member the wings of two pairs of glazing beads 8, held in place by the elastic reaction of the bands or staples 9.
It is understood that the fixing of the blocks 3 'of agglomerated wood or the like which form the two opaque lower panels 3 of the partition can be operated in the same way, that is to say by means of glazing beads 8 held elastically between the fins. 4d corresponding crosspieces by means of deformable strips 9. It goes without saying that instead of a single block of agglomerated wood, one can use for the realization of the opaque panels 3 two thin wooden plates, fixed in place of in the same way as the glass walls 2 ', said plates being able, moreover, to maintain between them a mass of insulating material (glass wool or other). Finally, it will be noted that the number of superimposed translucent 2 or opaque 3 panels may vary depending on the case.
The pairs of glazing beads arranged in the immediate vicinity of the ceiling 5 and the floor 6 of the room, and which have been referenced 8 ', are provided with a greater height than the others, so as to form sliding guides for two vertical plates 10, provided adjustable. The free ends of these facing plates 10 are connected to each other by a horizontal cross member 11, made of wood in the embodiment shown. This cross member 11 is urged vertically by a series of springs 12 U-shaped profile whose free ends bear against the bottom of a longitudinal housing formed in said cross member, while their curved central portion is engaged inside the central depression of the section 4 of the immediately adjacent metal cross member. It is understood that these springs 12 tend to push each wooden cross member 11 against the ceiling 5, respectively against the floor 6, of the room, thus forming an automatically adjustable plinth. The sleepers 11 are engaged in rubber profiles 13, suitable for forming joints between the separating wall and the ceiling or the floor of the room.
Each post 1 is constituted by a metal tube with a square section on at least one of the walls of which is attached, by means of screws such as 14 (FIG. 5), a metal profile 4. It is understood that this profile 4 makes it possible to ensure fixing the vertical edges of the panels 2 'and 3 by means of glazing beads 8, held by the elastic reaction of metal bands or staples 9, all in the same way as the horizontal edges of said panels. It will be noted that the square section of the posts 1 makes it possible to give the dividing wall according to the invention any desired profile in plan, said panels being able to be aligned as shown or else to be arranged along straight lines oriented at 90 [deg] with respect to each other. to others.
Each post 1 is slightly lower in height than that of the premises envisaged; the two opposite faces of this post which are not interested in the panels 2 and 3 are extended by metal plates 15 (fig. 4), the free ends of which are connected to each other by an element 16 with a cross section. U open towards the corresponding end of the considered column. The inner face of each of the two elements 16 of each post is integral with a rod 17 on which is engaged a spring lo bearing on the one hand against said element, on the other hand against the projecting head of a socket 19. with threaded periphery.
This sleeve 19 is screwed into a nut 20. integral with a plate 21 fixed transversely to the end of the post 1. It is understood that the spring 18 forms a connecting member between the sleeve 19 and the element 16, in such a way that by rotating the head of said sleeve, the application of the aforementioned element against the ceiling 5 or the floor 6 is adjusted. Each of the elements 16 is introduced into the housing provided in the rubber profile 13 so as to cushion its application pressure against the floor or ceiling. Each guide rod 17 is covered with a sheath 22 of rubber or synthetic material. Finally, it should be noted that after adjustment the metal plates 15 are fixed in place by means of lateral guides 23, attached to the post 1 by means of screws 24.
It is understood that the different parts which constitute the dividing wall according to the invention can be brought separately inside the room and be assembled without difficulty. We start by fixing the posts 1 in place by maneuvering the adjustment cylinder system provided at each of their ends. The horizontal crosspieces can then be fixed in position and receive the panels 2 and 3, held by the glazing beads 8. The two automatic plinths ensure the finish of the assembly which thus adapts perfectly, even in the case where the ground and / or the room ceiling has irregularities.
It must also be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention, which would not be departed from by replacing the details of execution described. by all other equivalents.
