Abstract

The invention relates to a device used in the maintenance of skis, by which gases and particles, which are separated out from the ski waxes used and other substances used in waxing, can be prevented from being dispersed in the work space. In the device, a deflector apparatus for air contaminated with harmful substances there has been connected to the waxing stand, table or other equivalent ski holder used in the maintenance of skis, by which deflector apparatus contaminated air is prevented from infiltrating the respiratory air of the waxing staff as a result of the contaminated air being led into a collecting duct away from the immediate vicinity of the work place. From the collecting duct, the gaseous substances, either cleaned or as substances not damaging to health, are led back to the work chamber or away from the work chamber, for example out into the open. An example of the construction of the device is shown in Fig. 1a. Nozzles 1 have been connected to a conventional waxing table 4 or to a holder 5 for skis 3 so that, when a flow is induced in the duct by means of a fan motor 6 or equivalent, the harmful gaseous substances and particles flow away from the immediate vicinity of the skis through the nozzles 1 into the duct. The air which has been led into the duct can be cleaned with a cleaner 7 before being led back to the work space. If the air is led outside the work space, cleaning is not necessarily required. The air-cleaning device connected to a maintenance stand or table for skis can also be realized without the device having a fan motor 6 of its own by connecting the duct system 2 to the ventilation system of the building itself or to some other suitable ventilation system. <IMAGE>
