Abstract

A process by which a ship and a lifting crane located in the ship are positioned for loading in relation to a loading foundation outside the ship, in which a signal transmitter, such as a laser transmitter 23, has been linked up to the loading foundation 4 located outside the ship 2 and a signal receiver, such as a laser receiver with transducer 20,21, has been placed on the lifting crane or on the ship, and the ship and the lifting crane are positioned, by means of the signal from the transducer, by the direction of their movements such that the loading gear 18 of the lifting crane 3 can grab hold of the cargo 6, and in which process a loading platform 5 placed on the loading foundation is further used for the cargo, which loading platform is provided with a counter- control member 24, matched to the control member 22 of the loading gear, to enable precise adjustment of the position of the loading gear in relation to the cargo, and on which loading platform the laser transmitter can be placed. <IMAGE>
