Abstract

An arrangement for aligning shaft couplings comprises flanges 1a, 1b centred 2 on the shaft ends, whereby on one of them, preferably the one on the drive side 1a, is placed a centreable laser transmitter 4 together with a reflector panel 6 in the direction of the flange 1a, and on the other a mirror 9 with a centre hole which has been centred on the analogue flange 1b provided with holes, which mirror has been advantageously fitted with a centrally situated cross whereby the beam from the laser transmitter 4, directed towards the shaft via the flange 1a centre, can be reflected from the mirror 9 to the reflector panel 6, and through the relative movement of the shafts and their flanges 1a, 1b can be made to meet in the middle of the transmitter's 4 flange 1a and the reflector panel where the reflecting beam produces a sharp-edged interference image with a focal length suitable for the laser transmitter's 4 optics 5. This image, thanks to the hole in the mirror 9, is tube-shaped and the reflection image thus a ring whereby, when the reflected beam is in the centre of the panel 6, the shafts can then be coupled. <IMAGE>
