Abstract

Method for operation of a gas turbine unit for simultaneous production of electricity and heat as well as a gas turbine unit for performance of the method. The gas turbine unit comprises a combustion chamber 16, a high pressure turbine 10 driven by gas from the combustion chamber and a low pressure turbine 13 driven by waste gas from the high pressure turbine, a low pressure compressor 14 driven by the low pressure turbine and a high pressure compressor 11 driven by the high pressure turbine and connected in series to it to supply air under pressure from the combustion chamber, and a generator 12 driven by the high pressure turbine to generate electricity, a recuperator 18 for heat exchange between the waste gases and compressor air, as well as intermediate cooler 22 between the low and high pressure compressor and a waste gas heat exchanger 19 both for heating hot water. The low pressure turbine is arranged with variable geometry and a controllable bypass connection 20 is arranged above the recuperator. The method consists of the fact that the desired power in this installation is controlled by the fact that the geometry of the low pressure turbine 13 is changed to change the low pressure turbine speed at constant combustion chamber temperature and the desired heat power is controlled by setting the bypass flow rate above recuperator 19. <IMAGE>
