Abstract

The gas turbine unit comprises a combustion chamber 16, a high-pressure turbine 10 driven by gas from the combustion chamber, and a low-pressure turbine 13 driven by the exhaust gas from the high-pressure turbine, a low- pressure compressor 14 driven by the low-pressure turbine, and, connected in series to said compressor and driven by the high-pressure turbine, a high-pressure compressor 11 for supplying air under pressure to the combustion chamber, a generator 12 for producing electricity driven by the high-pressure turbine, a recuperator 18 for heat exchange between exhaust gases and compressor air, and an intercooler 22 between the low- pressure and high-pressure compressors and a heat exchanger 19 for exhaust gas, both for heating hot water. The low-pressure turbine is of variable geometry, and a regulatable bypass connection 20 is arranged above the recuperator. According to the invention, the desired power is adjusted by changing the geometry of the low- pressure turbine 13 to change the speed of the low- pressure turbine at a constant temperature in the combustion chamber, while the desired heating power is adjusted by setting a bypass flow above the recuperator 19. <IMAGE>
