Abstract
Process for selective enrichment of the mineral constituents of a copper-molybdenum sulphide ore through flotation, which consists in: (a) crushing and milling the ore in order to release the minerals; (b) adding a molybdenum collector selected from the hydrocarbon oils group together with a frothing agent to the primary flotation cycle; (c) floating a primary (molybdenum) concentrate in the primary cycle in the absence of any copper collector; (d) feeding the primary molybdenum slimes to an additional enrichment cycle in order to produce the final molybdenum slimes; and (e) feeding the unfrothed fraction of the primary cycle to a secondary purification cycle for recovery of copper and further molybdenum by adding a copper collector, the process being carried out at a normal pH value, which is essentially determined by the composition of the ore and the quality of the water used for slime formation, without adding significant quantities of alkaline or basic pH-modifiers that might alter the pH value. <IMAGE>
