MOTOR BOAT - MOTORBAT

The present invention relates to a motor boat having a hull of the catamaran type with at least two longitudinal bottom recesses in the boat, in which water-jet engines are mounted.

The object of the invention is to provide a new type of motor boat mainly as a work boat, for example in oil spill response tasks, where the boat has to be driven in shallow water near the shore. The propeller and gearbox of an outboard or semi-outboard boat are always at risk of breaking stones in such tasks. Various propeller shields have been built for the propellers, but there are also drawbacks.

There are catamaran-type boats equipped with water jet engines, but when driving at higher speeds, interference occurs when water jets enter the water jet.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks. The motorboat according to the invention is characterized in that the bottom shapes of the bottom recesses are a few degrees upwards when crossed outwards. In this way, any air bubbles generated in the wave are pushed to the side and do not slide into the water intakes.

The hull 1 of a motor boat is of the catamaran type with two longitudinal bottom recesses 2 of the boat.

Water jet rotors 3 are mounted in the recesses 2.

The water intake openings 4 are located at the rear of the bottom recesses 2. The bottom shapes of the bottom recesses 2 take a few degrees upwards when going outwards in cross section.

The boat is able to move safely near the shore, which usually has underwater rocks. Especially in oil spill response missions where people involved in oil spill have to be taken to islands and various oil booms have to be moored on shores, a boat like this is excellent.

It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various embodiments of the invention may vary within the scope of the claims set forth below. Thus, there may be more than two bottom recesses, for example three, in which case the hull of the boat is a so-called trimaranityyppinen.
