The invention relates to a box to be assembled from four separate walls and a base plate.

Furniture, kitchen and similar boxes are usually made of wood or plastic. Wooden boxes are usually assembled at the carpentry factory. Plastic boxes are preferably made in one piece by injection molding or other methods. In some cases, plastic boxes may be provided with a separate wooden front, laminated plastic or the like, as disclosed in Swedish Patent 221,595.

In order to reduce transport costs, the aim is to make furniture, boxes, etc. into separate parts that consumers can simply assemble. Furniture parts can be packed in less space-consuming packages, reducing transportation costs.

In the case of wooden boxes, assembling them has proved to be quite difficult for a person moderately skilled in carpentry. Wood parts can also easily undergo deformation during storage and transportation. For example, they may swell or twist. Besides, wood is a rather heavy material.

Therefore, attempts have been made to make a box assembled from separate parts, which is made entirely or partly of plastic. However, it is very difficult to obtain a sturdy plastic box from several separate parts. Namely, the softness of the plastic material means that such box structures often become too weak.

By means of the present invention, said problem has been solved by providing a box to be assembled from separate walls and a base plate. The box is characterized in that it has two side pieces with an inwardly facing vertical strip at the rear, at least two inwardly directed, mainly horizontal notched members, at least one latching platform and one horizontal groove in the lower part of the inner part of the side pieces for the base plate, a back piece with horizontal grooves on the perpendicular short sides corresponding to the notched members in the side pieces and a groove for the base plate arranged in the lower part of the inner part of the back piece, and a front piece provided with corresponding grooves for the base plate, the parts of the assembly far into the grooves of the rear part, that the rear side edges of the rear part come against the protruding, perpendicular strip of the side pieces and that the latch platform comes against the front edge of the rear part and the base plate remains in place in the grooves, because the front piece is connected to the outwardly facing front edge of the side pieces, e.g. by means of a screw or nail or glue.

The grooves in the side pieces and the back piece for the base plate can be suitably formed from an outwardly directed fold of material having a substantially U-shaped cross-section. This ensures that the base plate cannot come off if handled carelessly. In some cases, the outwardly extending material fold can be omitted and instead a groove can be made in the side pieces and the back piece for the base plate.

Usually, the side pieces and the back piece of the box are made of plastic such as impact-resistant polystyrene or ABS plastic. Of course, the front piece and the base plate can also be made of plastic. However, the front piece can be made of another material such as wood, laminated plastic, metal plate or the like. The base plate can be hardboard, plywood or metal plate.

The invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a rear view of a box rear piece 3 61269 and a side piece during installation, Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a box assembled and Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a part of a front piece and a front side.

The box is formed by two side pieces 1, a back piece 7, a base plate 6 and a front piece 10. The side pieces 1 have an inwardly directed, perpendicular strip 2, at least two inwardly directed, mainly horizontal, step-like members 3, at least one latching platform 4 and one horizontal groove in the lower part 9 for base plate 6.

The front piece is provided with corresponding grooves for the base plate 6.

The parts 1, 6, 7 and 10 are preferably assembled as shown in Fig. 1, so that the rear piece 7 is directed backwards in the direction of the arrows along the inner wall of the second side piece so that the step-like members 3 are fitted in the grooves 8 and the rear side edge 11 of the rear piece 7 is perpendicular to the strip. 2 against. The side pieces 1 and the back piece 7 are preferably provided at their upper part with an outwardly pivoting edge 14, the purpose of which is to reinforce and strengthen the box.

The special structure according to the invention provides a particularly solid and sturdy box which can be used e.g. in furniture, cabinets, kitchen furniture, etc.

The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown, but can be modified in many different ways within the scope of the invention.
