Abstract

An air cleaning unit (11) comprising a corona accumulator (1), which in particular charges particles having a diameter between 10 and 2500 nm, characterized in that: a. The distance between the corona tip (20) and the counter electrode (6) is 20-50 mm; and b. the distance between the corona tip (20) and the outermost surface (7) of the needle support (4) is less than 20 mm. Description

AIR CLEANING UNIT
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an air purification unit, i.e., an air purifier, and to some parts of the air purification unit according to the preamble of claim 1 of the utility model and to independent protection requirements.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Using an electric charge to improve the efficiency of an air purification unit is well known to those skilled in the art. US7 513 933 B2, StrionAir, August 17, 2006, describes a method of operating an air purifier. This patent describes the transport of airflow along a flow path and the use of a corona charger to electrically charge particles in the airflow. The fibrous filter's filtering efficiency is improved by electrically polarizing the filter fibers. An electric field is formed in the air cleaner between the discharge electrode and the filter by connecting the rear face of the filter at several points to the counter electrode of the discharge electrode.
The publication does not disclose structural details, airflow distance, Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) or the like. US 6364 935B1A, Blueair AB, May 6, 1997, describes a device for purifying gaseous matter from particles present in that gas. a positive or permanently negative high voltage source and a filter separate from said source The filter comprises a finely divided filter medium consisting of fibers having a fiber diameter of about 1 micron or greater and an average distance of said fiber about ten times the diameter of said fiber. Said filter is further characterized in that there are no external loading means other than said particles passing through said filter.
The prior art does not describe the major technical problems of air purification units: it cleans only part of the room, has too much airflow through the purifier, and maintenance and maintenance of corona needles is difficult to arrange. In addition, the aforementioned coronetter is easily contaminated.
PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device for removing or at least mitigating the disadvantages of the prior art. The objects of the present invention are achieved by a device or piece of equipment according to the characterizing part of the independent protection claim 1.
The invention comprises parts of an air purifying unit 11 or such an air purifying unit 11 which eliminate at least some of the technical problems of the prior art: poor cleaning of the entire room, excessive flow rate through the air purifier, difficult maintenance of the corona reservoir.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Without being limited to any particular theory, we state that at least two significant forces affect the particle passing through the corona accumulator 10 of the air cleaning unit 11: the force Q caused by the volume flow Q produced by the fan 19 to guide the particles in direction 18; not more than 1%, the length of the counter electrode d (see Figure 2) may be at most the air purification unit 11 according to Shielding Claim 1, characterized in that the length of the counter electrode 6 of the corona charger 1 is determined by the length of the counter electrode 6 closest to the tip 6 is substantially parallel to flow 18, not greater than

In one embodiment of the invention, the counter-electrode 6 has a flow length of up to 10 mm.
It is also essential for the present invention that the dimensions of the corona accumulator 10 are designed for the most efficient use of the air cleaning unit 11. Thus, in one embodiment of the present invention, the distance between the corona tip 20 of the corona charger 1 and its counter electrode 6 is 20-50 mm; and the distance between the corona tip 20 and the outer surface 7 of the needle support 4 is less than 20 mm. This results in efficient ion production and a dead area of the corona charger, whereby ions are substantially free of as little as possible.
The counter electrode 6 of the corona charger 1 is most preferably formed of a single piece of metal. For electrical operation of the system, it is preferable that the counter electrode 6 is coupled to the ground potential of the corona charger 10.
It will be clear to one skilled in the art that as technology advances, the basic idea of the invention can be implemented in various ways. The invention and its embodiments are thus not limited to the above examples, but may vary within the scope of the claims.
