PARA MEDIR LA VELOCIDAD LONGITUDINAL DEL SOPORTE DE REGISTRO SE EXPLORA CON UNA CABEZA ESTACIONARIA UNA PISTA DE CONTROL Y EN FUNCION DE ESTA SE VARIA LA VELOCIDAD DE CABEZA DE FORMA QUE LA VELOCIDAD DE EXPLORACION MANTENGA SU VALOR NOMINAL. LA LONGITUD DE CONTACTO PISTA-CABEZA ES MAYOR QUE LA DE LAS PISTAS DE SEÑALES A EXPLORAR. EL RECORRIDO DE LA CABEZA ES PARALELO A LAS PISTAS SOBRE EL SOPORTE. LA EXPLORACION SE HACE CON UNA RUEDA DE CABEZA ROTATIVA EN CUYO CONTORNO HAY CUATRO CABEZAS DESPLAZADAS 90J CON DISTINTOS ANGULOS ACCIMUTALES.
