CONSISTE EN CALENTAR EN UNA ATMOSFERA NO OXIDANTE PEZ EN PRESENCIA DE UNA CANTIDAD CATALITICAMENTE EFICAZ DE UN CATALIZADOR, QUE COMPRENDE UN COMPUESTO SELECCIONADO ENTRE EL GRUPO QUE CONSTA DE OXIDO DE VANADIO, CROMO, HIERRO Y COBALTO, DICETONAS DE VANADIO, CROMO Y OTRAS; A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 380 Y 450JC DURANTE UN TIEMPO EN 1 Y 20 HORAS. COMO MATERIA PRIMA PUEDEN USARSE VARIOS TIPOS DE PEZ, COMO PEZ DE ALQUITRAN DE HULLA, PEZ DE PETROLEO Y CUALESQUIERA TIPO DE PEZ PRODUCIDAS COMO SUBPRODUCTOS EN LAS INDUSTRIAS QUIMICAS. SE UTILIZA UN PEZ QUE TENGA UN PUNTO DE REBLANDECIMIENTO SUPERIOR A 70JC. EL PEZ SE SUELE USAR EN PARTICULAS DURANTE EL TRATAMIENTO TERMICO.
