The process comprises (a) knitting pile fibres from a carding machine, which have been drawn through by the rotary system of a circular knitting machine and are picked up by the needles in their rotary movement, leaving a long pile in the interior of the tubular mesh fabric; and (b) directing the rovings towards the exterior of the fabric by the action of an air nozzle coupled to the machine, where a guide meets them and places each fibre in position to be taken up again by the needles in a new pass of the mesh, not continuous with the initial insertion of the pile fibres, which are again knitted, sticking out from the internal face of the tubular support fabric and forming a series of loops.
