Abstract

Appts. comprises a pressurised liquid supply to the tendon, and a monitor for pressure variations in the tendon, with the tendon linked to the platform and to a seabed anchor. The liquid pref. has s.g. less than that of sea water and may be water or hydrocarbon optionally containing a corrosion inhibitor. - Liq. pressure in the tendon is pref. greater than the max. hydrostatic pressure on the tenodn exterior. The platform and method of detection are claimed. Pressure may be applied by a compressor and valves used to retain pressure in the tendon, with pressure gauges monitoring pressure and activating an alarm when it falls below a set value.
