Waste-Gas Treatment And Other Accessory Devices For Furnaces
(AREA)
Abstract
A gas collecting system for the exhaust gases from a metallurgical bottom blown converter comprises a collecting hood above the converter opening, the hood having a vertically adjustable skirt which is raised or lowered to control the amount of air aspirated into the hood which is connected to two venturi scrubbers and an exhaust fan. Pref. the skirt is raised or lowered in response to signals from a sensor in the gas stream which indicates the combustibility of the gas. System used for air pollution control and gas recovery for bottom blown steel converters. Uncombusted high calorific waste gases are safely collected without explosion risks.
