Abstract

This device measures the absolute angular velocity of a member (2) mounted rotatably about a vertical axis (3). A housing (1) rigidly connected to this rotatable member (2) supports bearings (4,5) which for their part support a horizontal pivoted shaft (6). An electric motor (9) is arranged in an overhung fashion on one end of the shaft (6). The shaft (11) of the motor (9) is situated perpendicular to the pivoted shaft (6) and supports two flywheels (12,13). This pivotable subassembly is assigned means for the elastic resetting into the rest position, as well as damping means (14-23) and electric accumulators (24,25) which respond to the displacement. A particular use of this device is to measure the angular velocity of the cantilever of a slewing tower crane.
