Abstract
A helical element on a cable core produces a zero twist of the cable, when the cable and its element are pulled axially, by choosing a particular lay angle for the element. Lightguide cables having metallic helical armour elements 209, 210 for example advantageously utilize the present technique, which reduces the tendency of the cable to kink.
