Abstract

A composite cable comprises a protected optical cable (1) which is loosely contained within a flexible duct (2). The latter is surrounded by a binding sheath (3) in which are embedded two non-optical communications cables in the form of quads (5) having their own sheaths (6). In other embodiments, the non- optical cables are used for power supply, the sheath embodies strength members and/or a screen is interposed between the duct (2) and the sheath (3).
