Abstract

The starting aid system for engines comprises an electrical starting aid (4) which is fitted in the inlet line of an engine. The system has a valve (6) for controlling the flow of fuel to the starting aid and is provided with a switch circuit (74, 75, 64) which, when it is operated, feeds current to the starting aid. The heating element of the starting aid is so operated that it can rapidly attain the operating temperature and works in conjunction with a temperature analog circuit which has a capacitor (65) and a comparator circuit (68) which controls the state of the switch circuit in such a way that the required operating temperature of the starting aid is maintained. A timer circuit (71) controls the operation of the valve (6) and also of a control circuit (74), the timer being controlled by a switch (73) which is closed when the starter motor of the combustion engine is out of operation and when the temperature sensor (72) detects that the engine temperature is below a predetermined value.
