Abstract

The barrel (16) of the firearm has an opening across it and an annular gas chamber (46b) goes around part of the barrel. There is a guide and a reaction part (50) around part of the barrel, moving axially. A second reaction part (46) can also move axially. - The two reaction surfaces are opposed axially and are sited generally radially. The first has a piston head forming the reaction surface and an annular skirt part from the head to the gas chamber. The second has a plunger held inactive inside the skirt. (2/5) DEAB- DE3231405 C The gas gun has a breech block housing, barrel and coaxial bore and mounted guide and piston coaxial to the barrel as well as a head and ring casing radially spaced from the barrel, using piston and guide to form the gas chamber and a channel in the barrel as link between chamber and bore. A hollow piston (46) carried by the guide (42) within the casing (40) is urged by spring (52) axially against the firing direction into a rest position where the piston bears against a flange (50) on the barrel. - From this setting the piston is ejected axially in the firing direction by the chamber gas (34) into a gas emission setting and so links a vent channel (58) in the guide to atmosphere. The guide is a ring shaped sleeve fixed ahead of the casing to the barrel and with several angularly spaced fingers (44) reaching into the casing so as to carry this and the piston to enable them to adjust axially relative to the barrel.
