CONSISTE FUNDAMENTALMENTE EN LA APLICACION MOMENTANEA, A TRAVES DE LOS ELECTRODOS (2, 3) DEL SENSOR ELECTROQUIMICO (1), DE UN POTENCIAL (5) SUPERIOR AL POTENCIAL DE DESCOMPOSICION DE LA SOLUCION DE SAL QUE CONSTITUYE EL ELECTROLITO (4) DEL SENSOR. DE ESTE MODO SE INDUCE UN CAMBIO EN EL ELECTROLITO Y SE MIDA (7, 6) LA RESPUESTA DEL SISTEMA DETECTOR A ESTE CAMBIO. EL POTENCIAL SE APLICA EN FORMA DE IMPULSO O SERIE DE IMPULSOS, EN RESPUESTA A LA OPERACION DE UN CONMUTADOR (11), Y ESTE POTENCIAL INDUCE UN FLUJO DE CORRIENTE CONTINUA EN EL DETECTOR.
