LAS MONOOLEFINAS PUEDEN SER DE CADENA RECTA O RAMIFICADA NO SUSTITUIDAS O SUSTITUIDAS Y PUEDEN TENER 1 O 2 GRUPOS HIDROXILOS. LAS DIOLEFINAS PUEDEN SER IGUALMENTE DE CADENA RECTA O RAMIFICADA. CONSISTE EN QUE LA OLEFINA A HIDROXILAR SE HACE REACCIONAR A UNA TEMPERATURA COMPRENDIDA ENTRE 30 Y 80GC CON 2 MOLES DE ACIDO FORMICO, 2 MOLES DE H2O2. LA CONCENTRACION DEL ACIDO FORMICO ESTA COMPRENDIDA ENTRE 20 Y 100 POR 100 EN PESO Y LA DE H2O2 DE AL MENOS 50 POR 100 EN PESO. LA CONCENTRACION DE H2O2 EN LA FASE ACUOSA DE LA MEZCLA DE LA REACCION ES DE AL MENOS 15 POR 100 EN PESO.
