Abstract

Two interconnected levers, such as are used in the heating or air conditioning unit of a motor vehicle, are capable of controlled relative movement with positive retention. The main lever (11) has an elongated slot (15) that locates over a pin (22) fixed to the housing. A pivot point (24) halfway along the lever, provides a location for the second lever (26) that is located on a fixed pivot pin (28) at the other end. The lever carries an internal toothed profile (41) and a spring retainer locates in the grooves. When the main lever is moved (F), the toothed profile and spring act as a retaining ratchet.
