Abstract

Circuit breaker of the PUFFER type containing sulphur hexafluoride SF6 for rapid extinction of the arc. The fixed arc-contact electrode (18) has a modified structure enabling it to provide the arc connection by spanning onto the mobile arc-contact electrode (22) without the interposition of an auxiliary electrode, thus permitting a reduction in the volume of the chamber containing the gas ionised by the sparking of the arc.
