Abstract
Un procedimiento mejorado de síntesis de metanol, en el cual se sintetiza metanol a partir de un gas de síntesis que comprende hidrógeno y anhídrido carbónico, haciendo pasar dicho gas de síntesis sobre un catalizador de síntesis de metanol en condiciones de formación de metanol para formar una mezcla gaseosa que incluye metanol, agua y anhídrido carbónico que no ha reaccionado, enfriar dicha mezcla gaseosa, condensándose metanol y agua de la misma y separándose de la mezcla gaseosa no condensada, una porción de dicha mezcla gaseosa no condensada se separa como gas de purga y la mezcla gaseosa no condensada restante se recircula para su contacto con dicho catalizador de síntesis de metanol, caracterizado porque dicho gas de purga se pone en contacto con las superficies exteriores de una pluralidad de membranas de fibra hueca selectivamente permeables al hidrógeno y al anhídrido carbónico para formar una corriente de gas permeante agotada de hidrógeno y anhídrido carbónico y una corriente degas permeado enriquecida en ambos gases mencionados, y combinar dicha corriente de gas permeando enriquecido con dicho gas de síntesis.
