Abstract
The engine has a recess (4) formed within the cylinder head adjacent to the combustion chamber. It communicates with the combustion chamber (7) by means of a small opening (6) between them. A sparking plug (8) is positioned in the recess (4) in line with the opening (6). This arrangement ensures rapid combustion while reducing the time during which the gases are at their highest temperature which in turn reduces the production of pollutants in the exhaust.
