Abstract
La presente invención proporciona una prótesis de válvula cardíaca cuyas superficies expuestas están revestidas en su totalidad por carbono pirolítico. La base es una estructura unitaria e incluye miedos para retener el obturador en posición mientras permite su movimiento entre posiciones abierta y cerrada. En una realización preferida, el obturador está formado por dos plaquitas, ambas revestidas en su totalidad con carbono pirolítico y dotadas de salientes que cooperan con los medios de retención de la base. Los medios de retención y los salientes de las plaquitas cooperan para impedir el estancamiento de la sangre en su zona de cooperación. Además la prótesis de válvula cardíaca de la presente invención tiene un bajo perfil estructural respecto de muchas prótesis de la técnica anterior, un bajo gradiente de presión dando como resultado una elevada eficacia, un efecto perjudicial mínimo sobre los glóbulos rojos y da como resultado un patrón de circulación sanguínea superior a muchas de las válvulas de la técnica anterior.
