Abstract

El ácido ortofosforoso se puede usar en los procedimientos de la presente invención ya sea como ácido o en forma de sus sales, tales como las sales mono- o dialcalinometálicas. Cuando el ácido ortofosforoso se emplea en forma de sal, por lo general, debe usarse también una pequeña cantidad de ácido suplementario para convertir eficientemente la sal en ácido ortofosforoso que es más reactivo. En dispositivos de agua de enfriamiento se forman incrustaciones o costras de óxido. Esto puede suceder cuando la concentración de una sustancia disuelta llega a ser mayor que su solubilidad en el agua, y puede ser un problema especialmente cuando la sustancia tiene una curva de solubilidad inversa, es decir cuando se trata de un material cuya solubilidad disminuye cuando aumenta la temperatura. Dado que las temperaturas del agua en superficies de termotransferencia o cerca de éstas son mayores que las temperaturas en el resto del dispositivo, la solubilidad de tales materiales es menor en estas regiones; por consiguiente, tiende a precipitarse y formar costras que reducen la eficiencia de la termotransferencia.
